Our handmade matcha bowls, also known as Chawan, are beautiful and unique pieces. They are traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony to prepare and drink matcha, a highly valued green tea powder.

Our matcha bowls with a pour spout are a practical variation on traditional matcha bowls. These bowls are specially designed to make pouring prepared matcha easy without spilling or dripping.

When preparing matcha, the Chawan plays an essential role. Its wide and deep shape allows tea and hot water to be whisked vigorously using a bamboo whisk called a "chasen". This creates a light, creamy foam, giving matcha its characteristic texture and delicious taste.
